It was an eventful weekend when thunderstorms washed out play on Saturday February 14th and children were brought off the course for safety reasons.
Come Sunday the 15th The Sun Shone …Sunday morning the sun was shining and 85 excited children arrived at Secret Valley Golf Club for the biggest ever junior golf competition to be held in Cyprus; 88 participants had registered but with 3 "no shows" it was still the biggest event ever. With the Saturday storms forgotten the children could not wait to get out onto the course. Secret Valley was a hive of activity with over a couple of hundred adults either helping or watching their children tee off to start their match.
Terry Scott, director of junior Cyprus Golf Federation, said: “the day ran more smoothly than we could have hoped due to the support shown by Secret Valley Golf Club members who helped throughout the day. Special thanks to David Pitt, Harry Maratheftis and one of our newer members Graham Haughton-Brown. THANK YOU to all the members, too many to mention by name but we are sure we could not have run the competition without your help”.
